Hello there!
Tell us a bit about your career history prior to Framework…
I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2007 and went straight from our end of year show to a work placement in London. This work placement grew from an initial few weeks into several years working in the capital. I then relocated to Nottingham and have spent ten years specialising in branding for a variety of different clients. Over the years, I’ve worked on projects for Jamie Oliver, Sainsbury’s, WH Smith, Experian and Boots. Â
Tell us about some of the achievements you’ve had in your career so far
The moments in my design career that I would describe as achievements are always the same for me – when I propose a design solution I’m really excited about, that aligns perfectly with what a client is looking for, and excites them too. A professional highlight for me occurred during my first six months at Framework, when I sent designs to a client and received a reply that simply read ‘I love you!’… feedback doesn’t get much better than that!Â
In 5 years time, where do you want to be?
Every project that comes through the studio presents its own challenge and gives me the opportunity to learn something new and try something different. My goal for the next five years would be that we continue to do that: evolving, learning, and growing with each new exciting project.Â
My dream project? I would love to work with a professional sports team! Â
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like taking part in any competitive sport, especially boxing and football (Dirty Leeds fan). Design permeates all my hobbies though which means that my six-a-side football team has the best branding and kits in the league! I’m also a huge comic-book fan, which has always stimulated my love of drawing and illustration. If I’ve got any free time I’ll open my sketchbook, but most of my free time is spent with my family – my wife and my six-year-old boy who loves exploring the outdoors!
Have you got a fun fact for us?!
A couple of interesting facts about me are that I’ve met David Beckham and he signed my England shirt, I have also scored a goal from the halfway line at Elland Road! As for party tricks, I’m not if this counts, but if you *really* make me laugh, I sound like Jimmy Carr!
